Checking the Windshield Wipers Regularly

One of the first things you should check is the windshield. It should be free of any cracks, divots, or and other damage. If it needs to be replaced, this should be done as soon as you can. Having the best quality windshield will help improve the safety of your driving. Also make sure to inspect the windshield wipers on the vehicle. They should also be in good condition. If there is any damage to them, make sure to have them replaced as soon as you can. Noticing an issue with them is another indication that a new set of windshield wipers would be needed.     The windshield wipers should also be inspected on a regular basis. If you notice that they operate poorly or are less effective, make sure to have them replaced as soon as you can. Windshield wipers are inexpensive, so they should be replaced at any sign that they are no longer efficient. Ways to notice an issue is any smear or smudge marks they leave behind as they operate. This could indicate that there are rips or tears on the wiper blades. This would cause less effectiveness when they operate. Also be aware of any vibrations or chattering you might notice from the wipers. This could mean that the arm is bent as well.     When you check the windshield wipers, also check the wiper fluid. This fluid is important because it works together with the windshield wipers to remove any dirt or road grime that might be on the windshield. This should be topped off on a regular basis, as well as before any long road trip you may take. This can help to improve safe driving. If you notice an issue with the wipers and how they clear the windshield, make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for you.

Having a Clean Windshield

Keeping the vehicle clean and looking good is one of the top priorities of many owners. It should also be equally important that the vehicle is safe and reliable when traveling. Many want to know that they are safe when driving their vehicles, as well as making sure their passengers are safe if they ride along with them. It is important to be aware of any changes in your vehicle. Changes can include any noises, smells, or ways that it might handle. It is also important to notice any changes with the windshield of the vehicle. Not only will a cracked or chipped windshield not look good, but it will also be unsafe to drive with a windshield in that condition. Since the windshield is a safety precaution and a major area of your vehicle, it should be in excellent condition.       The windshield is what protects you and your passengers from any debris from the road surface that could come into the vehicle and harm you. Some things that may hit the windshield are rocks, trash, cigarette butts, and other debris. Without the windshield, these items could come into the vehicle and hurt you. It is important to keep the windshield in good condition so it can do its job to protect you and your passengers. If the windshield is cracked, chipped, or broken in any way, it will not be able to do its job to deflect the debris. A windshield that is damaged can significantly decrease the safety of everyone in the vehicle. Having a broken or cracked windshield can make it easier for debris to come through the windshield. It may also have to possibility for glass to fly your way as well.       It is also important that you maintain a clear view of the road at all times while driving, day or night. If the windshield is cracked or chipped, it can decrease your visibility while driving. The damaged areas of the windshield can be distracting as you drive. The crack or chip may also hide something that may be in the road that you will want to avoid.       Make sure to get any windshield repairs completed as soon as you can since a damaged windshield can be unsafe. The longer you go without repairing the windshield, the more time the crack or chip has to spread and weaken the windshield. As you wait to fix it, the cracks have the possibility to keep spreading and getting larger. This will then result in the windshield becoming harder to repair, and a potentially higher repair bill. The areas around the damage on the windshield can also weaken over time. Waiting too long to repair it may result in the entire windshield needing to be replaced. If you notice anything, even the smallest crack or chip, make sure to take your vehicle in so the windshield can be repaired before it becomes a larger issue.

Improve the Visibility out of the Windshield

When you drive you will want to make sure the vehicle is in the best condition possible. You will want to make sure that you bring the vehicle in for regular maintenance inspections. One part that we can inspect is the windshield. The windshield, for many drivers, is the most used item of their entire automobile. It is also one of the biggest parts of keeping drivers safe on the road. It is all that stands between drivers and the open road. Most blades are not hard to snap off and replace, nor are they expensive. An inspection of the wiper blades also is easy, simply run your hand and your eyes on one at a time and feel along for holes in the edge or torn pieces of rubber that could render the windshield wiper ineffective. If it leaves significant streaks or does not appear to be hugging the contour of the glass, than it might be time to look into a replacement wiper blade. One item that goes along with the windshield and the windshield wiper blades is the washer fluid that will help them clean. Often green or turquoise, this fluid is one of the ones that should be checked before any likely adventure in the rain or in questionable weather. Windshield washer fluid keeps bugs from impeding your vision as a driver, and thus allows you better vision of the road and better planning when obstacles come up. In the event that the unthinkable does happen though, and your windshield does require repair or replacement, there are many options available and some of them do not even require a direct fee. If you have full coverage of your vehicle, most of the time little cracks and even possibly big ones are entirely covered by the insurance. It is recommended to have the windshield replaced as soon as you start to notice damage or issues to it. Cracks and divots can impair your vision. This may allow you to not see an object in the road ahead. Cracks and chips will typically grow and get larger as time passes. There can be repairs to the windshield if the chip is small enough and caught early. If you notice any issues, make sure to contact us and we can inspect the windshield for you.

Causes of Windshield Damage

The windshield is a key structural component of your car. Unfortunately, it is in a particularly vulnerable position that leaves it exposed to damage from a variety of sources. Learning some of the most common causes of a windshield chip can help you avoid hazardous situations and keep the glass intact. Flying Rocks Road construction materials all contain rocks of various shapes and sizes. With weather fluctuations and everyday wear and tear, it is inevitable that some work loose from the road surface over time. When these stray rocks get caught in the tires of fast moving vehicles, they are hurled back into oncoming traffic. These airborne rocks are one of the most common causes of a windshield chip. It is recommended to maintain a safe distance from semi trucks and other big vehicles as they can send quite a few rocks flying, which increases the chance of windshield damage. Vehicle Cargo Debris All sorts of small items can fly off the back of both commercial and private vehicles, as they are moving down the road. If a load is not covered and secured properly, any cargo that comes loose becomes a flying projectile that can damage the windshield of any motorist who is following too closely. Even if the debris lands harmlessly on the road, another vehicle can kick it up and send it hurtling toward your windshield. Storms and Severe Weather Any items caught up in the high winds that accompany severe weather can becomes airborne missiles, including rocks, tree branches and roadway debris. If you are caught in a hail storm, the fast-moving frozen precipitation could chip or even crack the windshield. The best way to avoid danger is to get off the road and park the car under cover or inside a garage until the weather improves. Fixing a chip as soon as possible can help prevent further damage due to weakened glass or cracking that requires a more costly windshield replacement. It can also help you to have better visibility, because the crack or damage will not impair your vision when you drive. If you ever notice an issue with the windshield, make sure to schedule an appointment so we can inspect it for you.
