Proper Battery Care in Winter

Having a reliable vehicle is important, especially in the winter. You will want to make sure that the battery is in the best condition possible, so it is able to start your vehicle effectively. In the winter, there is an increase in failure for the battery. This is because, when your vehicle gets so cold, it requires more power from the battery to get the engine¬†going. Therefore, if for whatever reason your battery has not been properly charged then your car¬†is more likely not to start. It should also be considered that there are a number of other factors that could put strain on your battery. This can include if you have left your car lights, radio or heater on while the car’s engine was off then this will all require energy from your battery. You should always make sure that all of these things are turned off when your car’s engine is switched off. Similarly, it is best to make sure that they are off before starting up your car so as to reduce the amount of power that is required of your battery upon start up. During the winter months you are likely to be using your lights, fans, windscreen wipers and rear wipers more often, all of which require power from the battery and will slow down its ability to charge. If your car fails to start first time around, you may still be able to get it up and running. Try to start the ignition in five second bursts and allow around 30 seconds between attempts. You also need to think about how old your battery is. Over time, batteries lose their ability to charge and eventually it will get to the point where it will no longer be able to hold charge at all. Therefore, if your battery is around five years old then it may be time to change it so as to avoid battery failure. If you notice an issue with your vehicle, make sure to schedule an appointment with us. We can inspect the vehicle and the battery to ensure they are in the best condition possible. By having the battery working efficiently, you can help to improve the chance that the vehicle is reliable this winter.

Care of the Battery this Fall

Keeping your vehicle in the best working condition is important. This should include bringing it in for regular maintenance inspections. We can inspect the parts and components of the vehicle to ensure they are working efficiently and at top performance levels.   The battery should be inspected for any signs of corrosion. Check the terminals and the connections to ensure they are free of any build up or damage. If you notice that there is any build up of dirt and leaves, make sure to have it removed as soon as possible. This will allow you to have an efficient battery when it needs to supply the power to your vehicle.   Remember to notice how the vehicle is starting each and every time. If the vehicle becomes difficult to start, it could be a sign the battery is poor. If the terminals are loose or not securely tightened, it can result in issues with how the vehicle starts. Since there are several reasons why a vehicle may have a starting issue, it is always best to have us inspect it for you.   If you ever notice an issue out of the norm, make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect it for the source of the issue. This can help prevent any further damage to the vehicle, helping it to last as long as possible.

Keeping the Battery in the Best Condition Possible

As batteries begin to war and age, they will need to be replaced. This is why it is important to inspect the battery regularly and what condition it is in. If there is any buildup of debris or corrosion, it should be cleaned off. This can help ensure power is sent to the rest of the vehicle. You can also bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the battery for you, as well as how it is charging. How long the battery in the vehicle lasts usually depends on the maintenance, temperatures throughout the year, and how often it is used. If the battery is repeatedly drained, this could cause the battery to fail much earlier. This could be caused from things like forgetting to turn the lights off on the vehicle.   If the battery fails prematurely, it can be caused by a defective charging system. This causes the battery to over charge or even under charge. Another reason why the battery may fail early may be caused from other electrical faults in the vehicle. Remember to turn off the lights, radio, and any other electronic when you leave your vehicle. This will reduce the change of it draining the battery.   If you leave it for a long length of time without starting it or using it, the battery will slowly discharge and drain. Then when you need to drive the vehicle, the battery has a greater chance to be dead. To help have the battery last as long as possible and be efficient, make sure to have it properly maintained. If the battery needs to be cleaned, we can do so. We will also check to make sure the terminals are clean and clear of any rust, corrosion, or buildup of debris. We can also make sure the connections are able to transfer the current efficiently. By having a clean battery, your vehicle can be more reliable when you need to start it.

Keep the Battery in Good Condition

When owning a vehicle, you will want to keep it in the best condition possible. This can help you to have an efficient and reliable vehicle when you drive. One part to inspect regularly is the battery. If the battery is starting to get weak and it is hard to start your vehicle, this may be an indication your battery is starting to fail. When you bring your vehicle in for regular scheduled maintenance inspections, a battery test can be done to determine what condition your battery is in.   Make sure the battery is clean. If the battery is showing signs of corrosion, a replacement may be needed in the near future. If any dirt or debris on the battery starts to form, it may cause the battery to drain. This is especially common in tight spaces of the battery. It is also important to clean the terminals of the battery where the connections are. If the vehicle is not starting, or slow to start make an appointment with us so we can inspect the battery.   Without the battery for your vehicle, you will not even be able to start your vehicle. If your battery fails when you are traveling, it can be a stressful and inconvenient issue. By keeping the battery in good condition and making sure it, as well as all of its components, is clean you can help to preserve the life of the battery as long as you can.
