Fluids to check in your vehicle

On a regular basis, make sure to top off the fluids in your vehicle. The oil is essential to help the engine run efficiently. It is also critical to long performing motor life. Make sure to bring your vehicle on a regular basis so that the oil can be changed. This can help provide the best-conditioned oil for your vehicle as you drive. It is also important to have the oil filter changed as well. The filter will collect any contaminants that are in the oil, before it passes to the engine.   The anti-freeze is designed to prevent your vehicle from overheating in the summer, as well as prevent it from freezing up in the winter. If you wait to long to inspect or change the anti-freeze, the used coolant can harm the system of your vehicle and lead to it over heating. If you are unsure about the condition of the anti-freeze, make sure to bring your vehicle in. We can inspect it and ensure that it is good condition. This can help you to have a more safe and reliable ride.   Before any long road trip or vacation, it is recommended to check the fluids. This way your vehicle will be the most reliable and efficient when you need to drive it. If you notice that a level is decreasing often, make sure to bring it in so we can inspect it for the source of the leak. This can help improve your summer driving.

Don’t forget to check the Spark Plugs in your vehicle

It is important to keep your vehicle running at efficiently as possible. Part of this includes making sure the spark plugs are replaced when they need to be. These are important because without them, your vehicle will not start. You can notice some signs that the spark plugs are starting to go out. While a spark plug may seem like a small part to your vehicle, the fact is, it is a very important part to your vehicle.   The spark plugs are what help your vehicle’s engine to start. Spark plugs are inside the cylinder and take in high voltage electricity at the one end and create a spark at the other end of the plug. They ignite the mixture of air and fuel for the combustion engine to start. With older spark plugs, they will begin to wear and need to be replaced in a timely manor. Without spark plugs, your engine cannot start.   As the spark plugs begin to misfire you may notice a rattling or knocking noise coming from your vehicle. This is caused from the force of the pistons and combustion not working properly, causing the spark plug to fire at the wrong time. The vehicle may idle roughly or accelerate at slower rates than normal. Old spark plugs can also lead to poor fuel economy. This is usually caused because fuel is wasted, as the vehicle does not receive the proper spark at the correct time.   The end of the spark plug is a built-in gap between two or more small pieces of metal called electrodes. When the spark plug fires, one or more sparks jump the gap and a small amount of metal is burned off. While this happens hundreds of times per minutes, over time the gap between the metal tips gets bigger. Your engine will start to run poorly and misfire. The performance and efficiency will also start to decrease. If you ignore the first signs of this, overtime, your vehicle will become difficult to start. Make sure to contact us so you can bring the vehicle in and we can inspect it for you.

Keeping the Battery in the Best Condition Possible

As batteries begin to war and age, they will need to be replaced. This is why it is important to inspect the battery regularly and what condition it is in. If there is any buildup of debris or corrosion, it should be cleaned off. This can help ensure power is sent to the rest of the vehicle. You can also bring the vehicle in and we can inspect the battery for you, as well as how it is charging. How long the battery in the vehicle lasts usually depends on the maintenance, temperatures throughout the year, and how often it is used. If the battery is repeatedly drained, this could cause the battery to fail much earlier. This could be caused from things like forgetting to turn the lights off on the vehicle.   If the battery fails prematurely, it can be caused by a defective charging system. This causes the battery to over charge or even under charge. Another reason why the battery may fail early may be caused from other electrical faults in the vehicle. Remember to turn off the lights, radio, and any other electronic when you leave your vehicle. This will reduce the change of it draining the battery.   If you leave it for a long length of time without starting it or using it, the battery will slowly discharge and drain. Then when you need to drive the vehicle, the battery has a greater chance to be dead. To help have the battery last as long as possible and be efficient, make sure to have it properly maintained. If the battery needs to be cleaned, we can do so. We will also check to make sure the terminals are clean and clear of any rust, corrosion, or buildup of debris. We can also make sure the connections are able to transfer the current efficiently. By having a clean battery, your vehicle can be more reliable when you need to start it.

Checking the Windshield Wipers

The windshield, for many drivers, is the most used item of their entire automobile. It is also one of the biggest parts of keeping drivers safe on the road. It is all that stands between drivers and the open road. Check to make sure that the windshield wipers are also in the best condition possible when you need to drive. This way you can improve the visibility and see the road in front of you. One of the single cheapest ways to make sure your windshield stays in good shape is to replace your windshield wiper blades often. Most blades are not hard to snap off and replace, nor are they expensive. An inspection of the wiper blades also is easy, simply run your hand and your eyes on one at a time and feel along for holes in the edge or torn pieces of rubber that could render the windshield wiper ineffective. If it leaves significant streaks during a rainstorm or does not appear to be hugging the contour of the glass, than it might be time to look into a replacement windshield wiper blade.   If the wipers make an odd noise or sound, it should be time to have them replaced. This will help to ensure that they are clearing the windshield away as efficiently as possible when you will need to use them. One item that goes along with the windshield and the windshield wiper blades is the washer fluid that will help them clean. Windshield washer fluid keeps bugs from impeding your vision as a driver, and thus allows you better vision of the road and better planning when obstacles come up. Having a clear windshield will help your visibility when you drive.
